This event, at Braidholm on 7th September, was supposed to be a three team tournament. However the Wales team pulled out at the last minute leaving only Scotland and England.

As the English were preparing for forthcoming  European Championships in Bordeaux it was agreed to play three games between the remaining teams, sticking to the tournament format. I didn’t get a note of the final scores, but England won all three comfortably.

Haggis Cup FinalThe Haggis Cup is an annual pre-season tournament hosted in Scotland. This year it was played at Peffermill on 13th April, and it gave me a busy day as I was also shooting the two Hockey cup semi-finals on the adjacent pitch.

This year there were seven teams taking part in this years Haggis Cup, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen representing Scotland, with the visitors all coming from England, Manchester, Huddersfield, Tyne Tees and Wimbledon. The Glasgow team also brought players to make up two teams for a girls game.Haggis Cup Girls

At the end of the day Edinburgh Bloods retained the trophy, having built a big half time lead over Wimbledon Hawks in the final, then holding on against a second half comeback.
