Glasgow Mid Argyll v Dunadd ladies
I made it along to a Camanachd Association’s Division 2 South Ladies game on Sunday 27th March. This was highly entertaining, despite a vicious hail storm.
The win went to the Glasgow Mid Argyll team (their second team, the firsts play in Division 1) by 3 goals to 1.

Scotland Under 16 Boys v Ireland
Scotland’s under 16 boys and girls played three game series against Ireland at Glasgow Green over the Easter weekend.

The boys made a comeback from a goal down to win their first game 3-2 on Friday. The Irish were the better team on Saturday and levelled the series with a 4-1 win. On Sunday morning however the deciding game went to Scotland by 2-0.

The first girls game on Friday was a thriller. It looked like Scotland Girls were going to record the same 3-2 scoreline as the boys, but they were thwarted by a last minute Irish equaliser. Thet Scots did win the second game, scoring the only goal of the game late in the second half. The series ended up tied after the Irish won the Sunday game 2-0.

The semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and Plate competitions were played at Glasgow Green on Saturday and Sunday 19th/20th March.

The first Men’s Cup semi-final was decided by a shoot-out. After a slow first half the game produced goals in the second, one each for Kelburne and Grove Menzieshill. The shoot-out was close too but Kelburne came out on top. They’ll play Edinburgh University in the Cup Final. Uni proved too strong for Clydesdale Western and won the second semi by 5-1.

In the Men’s Plate Falkirk GHG made a late comeback from two goals down and then won the tie over Erskine Stewart’s Melville in the shoot-out. The second semi-final wasn’t close. Granite City wanderers overpowered Stirling University and won by 8-1.

On Sunday the first Women’s Cup semi-final was a Dundee derby with Wanderers facing Grove Menzieshill. Grove came out on top of this one. Dundee Wanderers had levelled the game at 1-1 early in the second half but they conceded two further goals as Grove eased to the win. Edinburgh University women, who had secured first place in the league the previous day, won the second semi-final to join their men’s team in having a final place. Western Wildcats scored an early opening goal and fought hard throughout the game but couldn’t hold out and finally went down by 3-1.
