Aussie Rules Euro CupThe 2012 Euro Cup was played at the Edinburgh University playing fields at Peffermill and featured 16 national teams, from as far apart as Iceland and Croatia.

After a long day’s play in almost constant sunshine, the Grand Final was an incredible match which those in the know said was the best game ever played in Europe. Denmark led for much of the game, but a last few minutes comeback by Ireland saw then win yet another copy, a late goal giving them the win by 5.0(30) to 4.5(29). Comments about the luck of the Irish followed! England, who had played well and had a half-time lead over the Irish in their semi final, beat Italy in the third place play off.

In the consolation competitions, Norway beat Iceland in the Plate Final, and France beat Spain in the Bowl Final.
